The Shrimp Welfare Project (SWP) is excited to partner with Thuan Phuoc Seafoods, Labeyrie Fine Foods, and LP Foods to improve the welfare of shrimps through humane slaughter. The joint effort shows both firms’ commitment to enhancing the way things are done.

Thuan Phuoc Corp., a leading Vietnamese seafood exporter, has committed to using electrical stunning technology in its processing. This is a great step from the company. Thuan Phuoc’s focus on animal welfare and quality control is well-known. The enterprise has been strictly following health protocols and does not allow harmful practice like using post-larvae from ablated broodstock anymore.

Labeyrie Fine Foods has been producing premium foods for 75 years. It is participating in the Humane Slaughter Initiative to further enhance its sourcing. Famed for their motto, Sharing a responsible passion for food, Labeyrie’s welfare policies include shrimp, duck and salmon production and its quality as well as the responsibility criteria are top class.

LP Foods, a global seafood leader prominent for its BRCGS Grade AA certification and use of non-chemical and responsibly sourced seafood, will also adopt humane methods. All this contributes toward greater food safety and quality management to set the benchmark for best practices in the sector.
