How are our chickens doing?
They are doing well. Good animal welfare is a given for us. We want the animals to be able to express their natural behavior by roaming freely in large, bright barns with insulated floors covered in straw or wood shavings, with constant access to feed and water. Chickens are social animals and enjoy the company of one another, just like humans. Animal ethics are our top priority at Lönneberga.
100% Swedish Chicken
All breeding, slaughtering, cutting, and processing of Lönneberga’s chicken takes place primarily in Listerlandet, near Sölvesborg in Blekinge. We have twelve of our own barns for breeding, located directly adjacent to our state-of-the-art facility, which we are proud to have developed, invested in, and expanded since taking over in 2016. We also collaborate with selected breeders, each with their own farms in the local area. This helps us avoid long transportation distances for the chickens and reduces the environmental impact. We believe in a sustainable future where both animal welfare and the climate are in focus.
Crazy for Chicken
Our chicken is labeled with Gula Pippin from Svensk Fågel. This guarantees that the chicken is hatched, raised, slaughtered, and processed in Sweden. It also ensures a healthy, salmonella-free chicken that has grown up under excellent conditions, protected by several strict animal welfare programs that go far beyond the legal requirements.
